Women's health in Mississauga & Kitchener (in-person) and all of Ontario (virtual)

How referrals work, what to ask and where to start.

Answer first

Women’s health services may be provided in primary care or through specialists. Ask whether a referral is required and whether the service is OHIP-covered. Ask the clinic to confirm referral rules, coverage and current availability.

How to get seen

  1. Ask your family doctor, nurse practitioner or walk-in clinician whether a referral is appropriate.
  2. Ask whether eConsult could provide specialist advice without an appointment.
  3. Ask whether eReferral or central intake can route the request to an available service.
  4. Follow up with the referring office if you do not receive confirmation.
